1. Who we are

Fern: Focus & Grow (“Fern”) is a focus timer app for iPhone, published under the Inovy brand (“we”, “us”). The controller of the personal data described here is Oğuzhan Aktay (individual developer, brand: Inovy), Türkiye. Postal address: Cumhuriyet Mah., Diyar Sk. No: 5, 16400 İnegöl, Bursa, Türkiye. Privacy contact: privacy@inovy.dev.

2. The short version

  • No account.Fern never asks you to sign up or sign in, and never asks for your name or email.
  • Your garden stays on your iPhone.Plants, pots, secrets, sessions and your streak are stored on the device.
  • Usage stats you can switch off.Anonymous usage helps us improve Fern. Turn it off in Settings.
  • No location, no contacts.Fern never asks for your location, camera, microphone, photos or contacts.

We do not sell your personal data.

3. What stays on your iPhone

  • Your garden. Every plant, pot, seed packet and secret, your focus sessions, wilted plants, streak, settings and the pot you chose for each plant are stored only on your iPhone. We never receive them. Deleting Fern removes them.
  • Leaving the app. To tell a locked screen or a phone call apart from switching to another app, Fern reads the lock state and whether a call is active, on the device. Fern does not see who you call, and nothing about your calls is stored or sent.
  • Live Activity and notifications. The lock screen and Dynamic Island show your plant and the time left through Apple’s Live Activities. Notifications (for example “Your tulip is almost in bloom.”) are scheduled on your iPhone. We do not use push notifications and do not collect a push token.
  • Motion. One hidden secret reacts to how you tilt your iPhone. The motion reading is used on the device only and never sent anywhere.

4. Services we use

Fern works with these providers. Each one receives only what is listed.

ProviderPurposeWhat it receivesRegion
ApplePurchasesFern Pro is bought and billed through the App Store. We never see your payment details.Apple’s infrastructure
AdaptyPurchasesApp Store receipts and transactions, your Pro status, and the anonymous ID (section 5) to link them. Used to confirm and restore Fern Pro.May include the United States
SupabasePro status cache, feedback, remote settingsAn anonymous sign-in, a copy of your Pro status, the feedback you choose to send (message and app version), and reading app settings we can change remotely.EU (Ireland, eu-west-1)
MixpanelUsage analyticsProduct events such as a session started, a plant bloomed or wilted, minutes, plant and pot IDs, rarity, paywall views and the plan bought, with a random Mixpanel ID and the app version. Never anything you type.EU data residency
Microsoft ClaritySession replayHow Fern’s screens are used (taps, scrolling, layouts) and screen names, with all text masked, plus Clarity’s own random ID.May include the United States
SentryCrash reportsCrash and error reports: error codes, stack traces, device model, iOS and app version. No messages and no text you typed.EU (Germany)

Mixpanel and Microsoft Clarity run only while Settings → Share anonymous usage is on. It is on when you install Fern; turn it off and both stop, and Sentry stops collecting performance data. Crash reports keep working so we can fix problems, and they contain no personal content.

5. The anonymous ID

Fern has no accounts. When it first needs our backend (to check Fern Pro, read remote settings or send feedback), it signs in anonymously to Supabase and receives a random ID. That ID links your Pro status and any feedback you send. It is not tied to your name, email or Apple ID. If you delete and reinstall Fern, you get a new ID; use Restore purchases to bring Fern Pro back.

6. Feedback and email

If you use Settings → Send feedback, we receive the message you type (up to 2,000 characters) and the app version, stored with your anonymous ID. Your message is never logged, and never sent to analytics, session replay or crash reports. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write.

We use your data to run Fern and Fern Pro, to read your feedback, to understand how Fern is used and improve it, and to find and fix crashes. Our legal bases are the contract with you (the app, Fern Pro and feedback) and our legitimate interest in improving Fern and keeping it stable (usage analytics, session replay and crash reports), which you can object to at any time with the Settings switch.

7. Retention and deleting your data

On your iPhone. Everything in section 3 is removed when you delete Fern.

On our servers. Your Pro status and any feedback are kept with your anonymous ID while you use Fern and until you ask us to delete them.

Asking us to delete it. Because there is no account, deleting the app is enough for everything stored on your iPhone. To have feedback you sent deleted, email privacy@inovy.dev with the subject Fern data deletion, and tell us roughly when you sent it and what it said, so we can find it. Please do not send receipts or card details. We delete what we can match and reply within 30 days.

Purchase records held by Apple and Adapty, and analytics, replay and crash data already received by Mixpanel, Microsoft Clarity and Sentry, stay with those providers under their own retention periods. Deleting Fern does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in your iPhone’s subscription settings.

8. International transfers

Our database is in the EU (Ireland), and Mixpanel and Sentry process data in the EU. Some providers, such as Adapty and Microsoft, may process data in the United States or other countries. Where a transfer needs safeguards, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR and Türkiye’s KVKK, you can ask for access to your data, a copy of it, correction, deletion or restriction, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to privacy@inovy.dev. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Children

Fern is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact privacy@inovy.dev and we will delete it.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we update the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
